I’m loving a blog called Copenhagen Cycle Chic at the moment. It posts stylish pictures of stylish Danes going about their carefree Copenhagen lives. These cyclists may have the world on their shoulders, but they sure don’t look it. They are just so cool. The Danes would never dare mess with a cyclist. They rule. London bus drivers could learn a thing or two here.
I’ve noticed recently that there is an increasing trend in London for cyclists to wear a fluoro lurid yellow vest or jacket. This is no criticism as I wear one too. There might be no increase at all, it could just be me noticing them (confirmation bias and all that). Of course, safety is paramount and when you’ve got a double decker on one side and white van man on the other, making yourself like Blackpool illuminations is a good idea. But wouldn’t it be nice to have something a bit more stylish to wear rather than look like Boy George doing community service.
Although I have to admit I’m not that keen on the whole vintage-lady-on-a-bike look. Little bit too zeitgeist-y for my liking. Looking as if you’re going to whip out a tea service from a rear pannier and nibble on a cucumber sandwich whilst waiting at traffic lights, is a bit silly.
Anyway go to http://www.copenhagencyclechic.com/ to see those cool cycling Danes…
